Beach Junior Athletics is a Christian recreational sports league for homeschooling students ages 3-18 under the TEACH organization. This league is great for beginners or students who just want to enjoy some fun organized sports.

DATES: Soccer will begin the week of March 23, 2026 with practices. The first game will be on April 4, 2026 and the season will run until our last game on May 9, 2026.

Redeemer Church, 508 Centerville Turnpike N. Chesapeake, VA 23320
COST: Registration will run from January 19, 2026 through February 16, 2026. Registration cost is $65 per player (SOCCER TOTS is $55 per player) and includes shirt and end of season award.
VOLUNTEERS: TEACH and Beach Junior Athletics are run by volunteers. Volunteers are imperative to make this season run sucessfully (coaches, assistant coaches, team moms, referees, and field set-up/clean-up). You will be asked to make a selection on how you can help on the registration form.
AGE GROUPS: This is a tentative list for soccer this season. Changes may be needed due to registrations received. If an age group does not have enough players to create two full teams, that age group may be canceled (with refunds) or combined with another age group:
SOCCER TOTS: ages 3-4; this age group will ONLY be on Saturdays for instruction/practice
5-7 YEAR OLDS
8-9 YEAR OLDS
10-12 YEAR OLDS
13-15 YEAR OLDS
16-18 YEAR OLDS
TENTATIVE PRACTICE TIMES: Teams will practice on either Tuesday or Thursday (with the exception of Soccer Tots). Practice times are subject to change, all practices are held at Redeemer Church.
3-4 year olds: 8-9am or 9-10am Saturdays only
5-7 year olds: 4:30-5:15pm
8-9 year olds: 4:30-5:30pm
10-12 year olds: 5:30-6:30pm
13-15 year olds: 5:30-6:30
16-17 year olds 6:30-7:30pm
TENTATIVE GAME SCHEDULE: Games will be played on Saturdays between the hours of 8am and 2pm. Official game schedule will be set once teams are created. All games are held at Redeemer Church.
COACH DISCOUNT: Volunteer coaches are necessary to make our program a success. Coaches will receive one free player registration. If you are interested in coaching, before registering your player, please go to this link to fill out a coach agreement: https://form.jotform.com/Secretary_TEACH/BeachJACoachAgreement Once your agreement is turned in and approved, you will receive an online discount code to use for registration via email. REFEREES: Beach Junior Athletics uses in-house referees from our homeschooling families. Teens and adults aged 13 and up are eligible to referee for our games (10-12 year old game refs are aged 15 and up, 13 and up games are refereed by adults only). Referees must attend our provided referee clinics and be approved by our Referee Coordinator in order to sign up to ref games. Our referees will be paid $20/game in the form of a check from TEACH at the last game of the season or via mail if preferred. Referee clinics will be held at the Redeemer Church field between March 9-20. More information on specific dates and times for referee clinics will be released soon.
TEAM PLACEMENT: In order to create a fair playing environment, teams will be selected based on age and experience only. Choose either a Tuesday or Thursday practice day when registering. Please choose "no preference" if you are available either evening, this will help us assign teams more easily. Practice day preferences will be honored as long as teams remain even in ability, experience, and size. Team assignments will allow for siblings to practice on the same day but no other team placement requests will be accepted. Please be sure you can commit to these requirements before registering. No refunds will be given if you are unable to participate because of a schedule conflict or team placement issue.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Soccer cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards, socks and soccer shorts. Soccer balls: size 3 for Soccer Tots and ages 5-7, size 4 for ages 8-12, size 5 for ages 13-17.
SPORTSMANSHIP: TEACH is a Christian organization, and those Christians who choose to participate in Beach JA Sports are expected to manifest the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as the rules of sportsmanship. TEACH does not exclude non-Christians from participation, but all are expected to abide by the rules outlined here, regardless of their faith. TEACH believes that team and individual competition contribute significantly to the development of character and graciousness. Sportsmanship and fair play are important parts of this experience. We expect our coaches, players, parents and students to represent Homeschoolers in a manner that is respectful of others on and off the field. It is our desire and goal that we develop and practice the highest standards of courtesy, discipline, good sportsmanship, and the ability to act as good hosts and guests. We encourage enthusiastic support at all games within the boundaries of good sportsmanship. We expect adult and student spectators to uphold the same high standards that we demand of our coaches and players and to help foster and promote good sportsmanship.
