Risks/benefits: We do not anticipate any significant risk associated with participation in this research project given that research participants are completing questionnaires about themselves. However, it is possible that there may be some psychological discomfort when considering environmental problems such as climate change. However, we do not anticipate that this discomfort would be greater than the discomfort that may be felt when watching news reports or reading news articles related to environmental issues. Potential benefits to partcipation in this experiment include greater awareness of behaviors that could be adopted to promote sustainability and greater confidence in one's ability to create positive environmental change.
Participation is voluntary: Participation is voluntary and there are no negative consequences for refusing to participate. In addition, if you choose to participate and change your mind, you are free to discontinue your participation at any time and without negative consequences.
