Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the Addition of Vitamin B to the Compounded Tirzepatide
Why vitamin B? Great question — here’s why compounders combine Tirzepatide with Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine):
Nausea support: Since GLP-1 medications (like Tirzepatide) can cause nausea, some compounding pharmacies add B6 because it has been studied and used for decades to help reduce nausea
Injection comfort: Vitamin B6 can help buffer the solution, making the injection less irritating at the site.
Important to note: The weight-loss effect still comes entirely from Tirzepatide. The Vitamin B6 doesn’t make it stronger or more effective — it’s more about tolerability and supportive wellness.
What form of Vitamin B is in the new formulation?
The tirzepatide vials are compounded with a form of Vitamin B called pyridoxine (also known as Vitamin B6). This is a water-soluble vitamin your body uses every day to help with things like energy metabolism and keeping your nerves and red blood cells healthy.
Each milliliter (mL) of the tirzepatide solution contains 10 mg of Vitamin B6. For comparison, that’s roughly the same as you’d find in a typical over-the-counter B-complex vitamin, but it’s included right in your injection so you don’t need to take it separately unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Do I still need to take my vitamin B tablets?
If you were taking Vitamin B separately before, you do not need to continue unless your doctor advises otherwise. With this new formulation, Vitamin B is already included in the vial with your tirzepatide.
Are you getting any more of the old formulation?
No. It cannot be compounded in that formulation anymore by any compounding pharmacy in the U.S.
Will the price be higher?
No. We are doing our best to keep pricing the same, and in fact, higher strengths will be offered at a lower cost per mg to make treatment more affordable for more patients.
I still have refills on my old prescription—can I use those?
Yes, but we’ll need a quick verbal OK from your doctor confirming that it’s fine to fill as tirzepatide with Vitamin B.
Will you be getting pre-filled syringes again?
We do not foresee getting pre-filled syringes again. We understand some patients prefer those over vials, but we are happy to show you in person how to draw medication from a vial. Once you do it a few times, you’ll see it’s not as complicated as it may seem—and the vial formulation actually allows more flexibility in dosing if your therapy changes in the future.
How much can I order at once?
With this new formulation, you may order up to a 6-month supply (the current products have expiration dates that extend into April 2026).
Important Note:
Prescriptions written for “tirzepatide” cannot automatically be filled with the new product, since the updated version also contains Vitamin B.
We have already faxed all providers about this change (see the fax here: tinyurl.com/TIRZVIALS) but we know patients may have quicker access to their providers and in constant communication with them regarding their own therapy/treatments so wanted to inform you, as well
Providers may either:
• Give us an OK to continue your therapy with Tirzepatide + Vitamin B using your current scripts that have refills
• OR send a new prescription that specifies that the Tirzepatide with Vitamin B formulation is ok for you
