Learn to Skate Program

Winter 2026 Session
Dates: Mondays from 4:15 to 5 p.m. - Running Oct. 19 to February 8

Location: Swan River Centennial Arena

Coaches: Lead by Professional Skating Instructor Amanda Woolgar with the assistance of Swan Valley Junior A Stampeders players

Ages: Open to all youth ages 4 & up.

The eight week progam will see children grouped by ability, learning and developing skills through a structured program. These skills include:
- Forward skating
- Backward skating
- Stopping
- Edges
- Gliding
Each session will include:
- Warmup
- 3 stations for youth to rotate through
  - Lesson Station
  - Circut Station
  - Fun Station
- Full group activity
- Cool down/free time
Youth are required to wear a proper fitting CSA approved helmet. It is recommended that they also have a face shield/cage. Bike helmets are not allowed and you child will not be allowed on the ice if wearing one.

Lace up skates are strongly recommended.

Program is limited to 30 skaters.

I (we) the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the youth noted above accept the terms of registration and agree that the staff, coach’s, instructors, along with the ice arena and its employees are not liable for, nor held responsible for any accident or loss, however caused and agree to release same from all claims or damages. We further agree that the applicant has no medical problems and is in good physical/mental health. We will not be responsible for any medical, and dental claims or insurance. It is further agreed that the Swan Valley Stampeders and Arena staff are not responsible for any lost personal belongings and/or equipment.
