1. Important: Make sure you are eligible for enrollment.
CVA applicants must:
- Be a US citizen or permanent, legal US resident. International students are not eligible.
- Be 18-30 years old, or up to 35 if you are a veteran.
- Be eligible to serve in an AmeriCorps term of service.
- Pass state and federal criminal history checks.
- Have served no more than three previous AmeriCorps terms.
- Attend the mandatory national training(s), whether in-person or virtual. National Early Service Training is anticipated to be in-person in late March/early April 2024
- Be available to work a 40-hour week for the 48-week term, that starts on January 22nd, 2024, and ends on December 20th, 2024.
- 48 weeks is approximately 11 months
- Personal time off is offered and includes sick, holiday, and vacation time.

- If you are applying to an indivdiual CVA site, please address the specific sites position description. Review all positions HERE.
- If you are applying to multiple CVA sites, you are only required to submit one cover letter with your application. In this case, your cover letter should address the position responsibilities for the CVA program.
- You are welcome to submit individual cover letters for each site, if desired.
- Please be sure your cover letter addresses the following questions:
- What makes you a good candidate for this specific site/what unique skillset can you bring to the volunteer team at this site and the CVA Program as a whole?
- Given that the staff and volunteers at the site consist of people from all different backgrounds, what will you do to ensure a positive, healthy, and successful work environment at your site?
- The file name of your cover letter(s) needs to contain your name.
- Example: Lopez_CVA Application; Elliot_CVA Application; Johnson_CVA Application
