Please understand, we cannot bring dog or people aggressive dogs into rescue, for the safety of our foster homes & potential adopters. If they are a danger to you, they are a danger to others.
Dogs with a bite history will be considered on an individual basis and will depend, in part, on the circumstances & the behaviours seen leading up to the bite(s) as well as how often it has happened & the severity. ABHDR may appoint a representative to assess the dog, prior to the surrender, to confirm that they are good candidates for adoption.
Our ability to take in dogs is limited by our current resources, which includes available foster homes and vet funds. This form and/or an assessment is NOT A GUARANTEE that the dog will be accepted into rescue.
If your dog fits the above criteria, please fill in and submit this form.
NOTE: We cannot legally take in stray dogs. Those dogs must be taken to the animal control offices of the municipality or county they were found in.
Nor can we legally enter properties of suspected abuse or neglect cases. If you suspect there are animals in distress, you must call the local Peace Officer, SPCA or Humane Society.
