Betty Brown was a beloved teacher and school administrator for 35 years. She spent 30 of those years working in the Tucson Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona. Ms. Brown passed away in September 2000, leaving a legacy of high academic standards, commitment to community service, and a love of humanity. To honor her legacy, the Tucson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. established the Betty Brown Scholarship to assist African-American/African (descent) high school senior girls who have a passion for learning, are determined to succeed, and demonstrate an eagerness to earn a college degree.
The scholarship award is $2,500 (awarded in two increments of $1250 for fall semester and $1250 for spring semester).
