Pre and Post Doc Research Awards

Nursing Education Alumni Association (NEAA) is pleased to offer financial assistance to those dedicated to advancing nursing research. 

Pre-Doctoral-Applicants pursuing doctoral education in nursing must meet all criteria and be in the dissertation stage at TC or if an applicant is pursuing a doctorate in nursing at another institution must have at least one graduate degree in nursing from TC and be in the dissertation stage. Grants up to $1,000.

Post-Doctoral-Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in nursing (PhD, EdD, DNP) and have at least one graduate degree in nursing from TC and be an active NEAA member. Grants up to $1,000.

 

Application Criteria

•Applicants who are not doctoral students at Teachers College (TC) must have at least one graduate degree from TC.   

• Applicant must be an active full or student NEAA member. Click here for membership applicaion.

• Applicant must be a RN with a current, unencumbered RN license in any of the fifty United States.

• NEAA must be noted as a funder for assisting in the completion of pre-doc dissertation or post-doc research or evidence-based projects (EBP) for any publication or conference presentations.

• Provide a line-item budget for how the funding will be used. Note that the following cannot be part of the requested funds for Pre-doc awards for EdD nursing students: (1) Tuition reimbursement as it is not considered as a scholarly effort, and (2) money incentives for participant participation in TC’s EdD on-line nursing education program as the program provides funding for that purpose in the form of Amazon gift cards.

Required Information

1.       Completed Application for eligibility (noted above)

2.       Dissertation Abstract (for pre-doc): Purpose, Lit review summary identifying gap, methodology/design (include tool(s) validity & reliability, Sample type & size needed, sampling population, sampling strategy, proposed application of results for nursing education (e.g., curriculum, students, faculty) and how it will contribute to building nursing education’s science.

3.       CV

4.       Letter of Recommendation from a TC faculty member (for pre-doc).

5.       Evidence of passing TC’s nursing education dissertation proposal review (dated & signed) (for pre-doc).

6.       Evidence of IRB approval.

7.       Proposed Line-item Budget for use of funds to complete dissertation or post-doc research. Include proposed time line.

Request for Funding Abstract: Please upload a 200 to 250 word, typed, double-spaced, abstract that provides a succinct an overview of your funding request for your dissertation, or post-doc EBP project or research. Include the following:

1.     Justification for and your plan for how funding will be used to carry out your project

2.     Amount of funding requested (not to exceed the announcement of funding available)

3.     Estimate of when the pre-doc dissertation or post-doc EBP or research will be completed

Abstract of Proposed Pre-doc dissertation or post-doc EBP project or research: Must not exceed 3 page limit, be double spaced with one-inch margins and contain the following information per heading:

. Purpose of the Study or EBP project

. Gap in the literature (Pre-doc dissertation or Post-doc research) or if post-doc EBP Project

Synthesis of research literature evidence to support EBP project

Methodology or for post-doc EBP Implementation plan

Analysis for dissertation or post-doc research data analysis or for EBP project plan for evaluating outcomes

Anticipated date for completion

Plan for communicating the findings of dissertation or post-doc research or EBP project

List appropriate references (not to exceed 10) related to what you state in your succinct literature review that identified gaps for your dissertation or post-doc research or if for an EBP project significant references to support there is a sufficient number of quality studies to support your EBP policy change.
