Level 1 - Requirements to complete this level
Do you have a minimum of five years proven interest in pedigree dogs? Please answer yes or no
Have you attended a Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and passed the associated exam? This can be done in person or online via the Royal Kennel Club Academy. Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Have you attended a Conformation and Movement seminar hosted by a Royal Kennel Club accredited trainer? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Have you completed a minimum of two full days of stewarding appointments? Please give dates
Have you passed the points of a Dog Assessment conducted by a Royal Kennel Club accredited trainer? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Once you have completed the above you are eligible to judge 3 classes (4 if one is a puppy class) or 5 classes (6 if one is a puppy class) for Stud Book Band E breeds for any breed at Limited or Open Shows
Level 2
Have you attended a Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) and passed a multiple-choice examination for the respective breed? Judges sitting MCE held at BADs from 1 January 2024 will be required to have met the amended Level 1 criteria. Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Have you watched the Ring Stewarding Seminar and taken the online quiz via the Royal Kennel Club Academy? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Have you completed the Critique Writing Seminar and taken the online quiz via the Royal Kennel Club Academy? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Once you have completed the above you are eligible to judge an unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at Limited, Open or Championship Shows (no CCs). Also, Any Variety classes and Best in Show at Limited Classes. For subsequent breeds you need to have attended a BAD and passed the MCE for each breed. Note - not mandatory for Group Judge for breeds in the group that are not approved at Level 4, but attendance is strongly recommended

Level 3
Have you undergone a minimum of 3 mentoring sessions with a minimum of 12 months between the first and third sessions? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the dates of completion
Have you been observed judging a Breed Club Show, breed supported entry show or championship show without CCs? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the date of completion
Have you achieved the relevant hands-on experience in line with the stated requirements for the relevant Stud Book Band? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the dates of completion
Have you completed the remaining 10 stewarding appointments (one time qualification)? Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the dates of completion
Have you owned/bred a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry into the Royal Kennel Stud Book - save for exceptional circumstances (one time qualification). Please answer yes or no, if yes please also add the Stud Book Numbers for each
Once you have completed the above you are eligible to judge an unlimited number of classes or the respective breed at Limited, Open and Championship Shows (no CCs). Also, Any Variety classes and Best in Show at Limited Shows
