About the RFS Executive Council
The Executive Council of the Resident and Fellow Section shall direct the section activities.
The term of office for Executive Council members shall be one year. The term for these positions begin at the conclusion of TMA's Annual Conference, TexMed.
Responsibilities of RFS Executive Council Positions
CHAIR - Chair-Elect Elevates to Chair
The chair shall preside over all RFS section and executive council meetings, subject to the RFS operating procedures and TMA bylaws. The chair shall have the authority to call section meetings, designate ad hoc section committees, and appoint committee members.
CHAIR-ELECT
The chair-elect shall assist the chair and preside at meetings in the absence of the chair or at the chair’s request.
SECRETARY
The secretary shall record proceedings of the meetings of the RFS and Executive Council. The secretary will lead section meetings when the chair and chair elect are unavailable. The secretary will also serve as the RFS representative for the Texas Medicine Editorial Board.
TMA DELEGATE & ALT DELEGATE (Up To 8 Total) - Vacant Alt Del positions
The delegate and alternate delegate shall represent the section in the TMA House of Delegates. Any member of the RFS in good standing may be elected as delegate or alternate delegate.
AMA ALTERNATE DELEGATE, TEXAS DELEGATION
This position's election runs through the TMA House of Delegates (HOD). To receive sections' endorsement for your campaign, submit an application to interview with section leadership. Any resident or fellow may run without an endorsement. All candidates will need to follow TMA House of Delegates elections procedures with or without an endorsement. The AMA Alternate delegate to the Texas Delegation interacts and caucuses with Texas physicians as a Texas Alternate Delegate in the AMA House of Delegate. The AMA Alt. Delegate reviews and develops AMA policy with the Texas Delegation and represents the Texas perspective in the AMA-RFS. The AMA Alt. Delegate must attend all Texas Delegation meetings and RFS caucuses at TMA conferences and AMA conferences, including the entire 1-week AMA-RFS Assembly and AMA HOD meeting for the Annual and Interim conferences throughout their one-year term.
BOARD of TRUSTEES MEMBER
The TMA resident representative serves for 1 year to provide the RFS perspective on major TMA decisions in the Board of Trustees. The RFS BOT representative is required to attend all regular meetings of the BOT and report relevant information to the RFS during section meetings.
