The FOLD Program is an annual publication that comes out each year in May, in advance of the Festival of Literary Diversity. It includes festival schedule information as well as articles and essays about diversity in Canadian publishing. The program is circulated throughout the GTA and is used year-round as a way to promote diverse Canadian authors and stories.
This year, the FOLD Foundation is once again opening up a call for NON-FICTION submissions to the 2018 FOLD Festival Program. We want to read your essays and articles about diversity and the challenges that lie ahead for Canadian publishing. Perhaps you're an emerging writer, or a publishing professional with insight into the industry. Perhaps you're a magazine with a diverse article that you'd like to see gain another round of attention. Whatever your approach, we'd love to hear from you!
Articles and essays should be between 1000-2000 words and contain some element of diverse lived experience. Previously published articles are welcome, as are unpublished pieces. Accepted submissions will be published in the Program and released in late April 2018, in time for the 2018 Festival of Literary Diversity. Authors whose UNPUBLISHED work is chosen for inclusion in the program will receive compensation in the amount of $100. Previously published pieces will receive compensation in the amount of $50.
The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2018.
