DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE:
Thrive-4-Blacks currently seeks to recruit a Small Pool of individuals who are passionate about community service to support its set-out objectives as Project Mentors for members of its new Teen Thrivers Club.
The main club activity is a Monthly Youth Leadership Forum, which includes hybrid monthly meetings for and by young people between the ages of 12 and 19. Aimed at promoting our organization’s mandate of providing rounded leadership formation for Canadian youth, these sessions also include a 20-25min peer-to-peer Speaking/Presentation Session by one of the teens on a pre-selected topic.
As a volunteer project mentor, you will guide/assist each month’s presenter through putting the slides together (Max. 12 slides). You will provide speaking tips and motivation ahead of their meeting.
This role will directly liaise with the Coordinator of Programs & Engagement.
DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Attend at minimum of two 1-hr meetings in a month you are assigned a teen to support.
· Provide advisory feedback to the teen and/or program organizers as may be requested.
· Commit to a minimum availability of four months in a year.
Expectation includes a commitment to understanding and supporting the objectives of the organization, as well as working in the interest of its success.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:
· Should have a sound knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint Software;
· Should be a good speaker and motivator;
· Should be passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, especially the youth;
· Should be willing to commit to at least 4 months of availability within each calendar year;
· Must have access to own computer and functional internet;
