  • About the plants that we offer for sale:

    All varieties have been chosen for being flavor-forward, nutritious and productive in our climate conditions. These plants are certified organically grown here on the farm using the finest organic compost-based soil available. This gives your plants a strong, healthy start for flourishing. ALL ARE IN 2.5 INCH POTS. I've found that this size of plant gives you an easier plant to manage and is at a stage set for rapid growth. It is also easier to protect from the adverse weather that can occur, especially early in our growing season. They will bear more heavily than larger plants with stunted roots.

  • Pickup dates : May 23RD & 30TH

    Please bear in mind that Memorial Day Weekend is early this year and our night temperatures are often still too chilly for heat-loving plants. If you do pickup that weekend, please be prepared to safeguard your plants. If these dates do not work for you, other arrangements can be made, just let us know. Other plants/varieties will be offered in the market, including cool season vegetables, perennial and annual flowers. We've expanded our herb selection beyond the basil plants offered here and they we be offered in the market as well.

  • TOMATOES:

    Will need at least 6-8 hours of full sun a day to really produce. Adequate water with even moisture is essential, especially for container grown tomatoes, Consider mulching to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Tomatoes want a steady supply of nutrients from mature compost. Avoid manure and other high nitrogen fertilizers and soil amendments as they will give you more foliage and less fruit. Consider using row cover to protect your young plants on chilly nights and even small hail. HORNWORMS will come around Cheyenne Frontier Days. (mid July) They are very destructive and chow down on your plants during the evening. We use a little Black Light flashlight which makes them glow in the dark & easy to pickoff.

  • HEIRLOOM TOMATOES:  These do well in a sheltered area such as against a fence or wall with heat retention at night.  The varieties perfom well even with our cooler nights, but prefer an overall more protected environment.  They produce relatively early and are productive with exceptional flavor.

  • CHERRY & GRAPE TOMATOES:

    These grow and produce the best in the garden or raised bed, but can grow in a large container.  
    They will need support.

  • PEPPERS

    Peppers do best in the garden or a raised bed, but can grow in a large container like a wine barrel. They also need even moisture and prefer a bit of shade. They typically don't require staking or support. But they benefit from row cover to help hold in heat at night, especially early in the season.

  • Eggplants

    Can be grown in either garden, raised bed or large container. They do best with full-sun, compost-amended soil and even moisture. They need warm night temperatures, 55 or above are best. Row cover is recommended.

  • BASIL

    Basil is tender and needs warm (50's) night temperatures and adequate moisture to thrive. It is a sun lover, but will take some afternoon shade in our climate. Keep it cut regularly if you want continuous production. Basil typically does well in containers, but not as well indoors without strong light all day.

  • CUCUMBERS

    Cucumbers need regular moisture to prevent bitterness and do best in the garden, raised bed or a very large container in compost amended soil. They grow well up a trellis, conserving space in the garden and producing straight fruits on the longer varieties (Chinese and Japanese).

                                                                Full sized and very flavorful red tomatoes on a smaller plant. Very productive and ripening early to mid August. These also do well directly in the garden or raised bed. They will need some support use the largest container possible-like a whiskey barrel. Even moisture critical.

                                                                These are a Berry Patch Favorite for many years. Large and flavorful and 50% higher in lycopene. Great for salsa, sauce and even slicing. Plant size is a bit smaller, but these perform better in a garden or raised bed, for they are more susceptible to blossom end rot from uneven watering or exceptional heat.  Mid August through September.
