    List all current or prior awards administered by UCI that may be categorized as a “Young Investigator Award.” Include both extramural funding and University of California funding. *

  • List any other grants for which you have applied for and expect to receive in the 2026-27 academic year. Of these indicate which, if any, will support the same project for which you are requesting a Hellman Fellowship.*

    IMPORTANT: Missing or incomplete documentation will forfeit your application from further consideration. Please check that the correct files are present before submitting this application. Acceptable file types: Word Doc (.docx) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf).     
    1. Project Description/Proposal (3-page limit): Include a project title. Provide a clear and concise description of your goals, aims and methods. This should be understandable by colleagues who may not be experts in your field of study. Describe the innovative nature of your research project and its significance/impact. Explain how the award will advance your research.
    2. Budget (1-page limit): Itemized budget showing how the award will be used. If applicable, the relationship of the proposed Hellman-funded activities to ongoing research funded already by other sources must be explained. No overhead may be charged to this award.

    By signing below, I am affirming that (i) the information contained in this application is true and correct, including that I am not under tenure review in AY 2025-26;(ii) if awarded a Hellman Fellowship, I will use the funds on allowable items as communicated to me in my award letter within one year of receipt; (iii) should I have any remaining funds by the effective date of my promotion to tenure review, these funds will be returned to the UCI Hellman Fellowship Program.
