We welcome you to the University of California and look forward to working with you!
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Work Authorization and Political Reform Act
This appointment is contingent upon your ability to provide documentation of employment eligibility/authorization to work in the United States, in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. If your employment eligibility is dependent on work authorization that expires before the appointment end date listed on above, your appointment will end with your work authorization expiration, in order to comply with applicable federal laws. If you obtain an extension, please notify your department contact as soon as practicable.
Also, the State of California requires that we inform all academic appointees of the Political Reform Act of 1974. This Act prohibits public officials from participating in governmental decisions when personal financial interests may be affected by those decisions. The Act requires that all government employees and officials disqualify themselves from participating in a governmental decision when a financial conflict of interest is present. See your department contact for required documentation.
Policy Compliance
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
Additional Forms/Information
Upon receipt of your formal acceptance, if any additional forms (e.g. visa application) are required to be completed by you, the department contact listed below will contact you.
REPORTING IN TIME AND ATTENDANCE SYSTEM:
You are responsible for honestly and accurately reporting the use of any leaves or absences on the appropriate leave-reporting form and/or through UCI's Time Reporting System (TRS) each month, in accordance with established local procedures. Failure to report an absence from work in any circumstance may result in an overpayment of public funds requiring your repayment. Submitting erroneous information in the time and attendance system will subject your submission to being overridden and pay withheld for the time not worked. Failing to accurately report leave or absence in any way and receiving an overpayment of funds is a serious violation of university policy that may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. If you have no absences or leave to report, you must still submit a report acknowledging no absences or leave in TRS by the submission deadline as set by your campus. Information for TRS is available here. For additional information, contact your supervisor or department manager.
BENEFITS INFORMATION:
In accordance with University policy, your eligibility to participate in University of California benefits programs, including the University of California Retirement Choice Program, is dependent on the percentage and/or duration of your appointment. If you have a concurrent appointment in another department, the total percentage and/or duration of your appointments determines your eligibility. Please refer to the UC Benefits website http://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu.
If you are eligible and choose to participate in any of the health and welfare benefits, you must enroll online within the first 31 days of your employment. Details concerning your benefits as an Academic Researcher are set forth in Article 3 “Benefits and Retirement Programs” of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”). You can access more information about eligibility and enrollment options at Employee Experience Center or contact your department for guidance.
Upon hire, UCRP-eligible appointees will receive communications from Fidelity regarding the Retirement Choice Program which allows appointees to choose between two retirement plan options. Participation in the Retirement Choice Program is required, if eligible. Eligible appointees who do not choose an option within the 90-day enrollment period, will be automatically enrolled in Pension Choice. Eligible appointees are encouraged to enroll in the Retirement Choice Program as soon as possible to avoid delaying vesting or decreasing accumulations or benefits. Information about the UC Retirement Choice options may be found at: https://myucretirement.com/choose.
