Dear Applicant,
The USTA Wheelchair Tennis department is thankful for your decision to apply for a 2021 Collegiate Program Grant. All funds awarded are to be used in 2021. We want to accomplish the following goals:
1. Make it easy to apply.
2. Give clear directions on what is expected in the application.
3. Provide assessment criteria upfront so that applicants know how decisions are made.
In order to apply, simply fill out all the fields below. We want to know how your Collegiate program will help enhance local community programming, and facilitate the recruitment and retainment of collegiate wheelchair tennis players within the University/College’s tennis community.
Grant funds may be used for:
-Paying local tennis professionals to help run programming
-Court/facility fees
-Basic equipment
-Program marketing
-Costs associated with Team travel to tournaments
If awarded a grant, you must agree to the following:
1. Actively recruit new/currently registered students with disabilities to join the collegiate wheelchair program at your school.
2. Fill out reporting surveys in a timely manner. Respond promptly to phone calls from staff or USTA Wheelchair Tennis Committee Members.
3. Host a one day tournament/social (more details will be provided by staff if you are awarded a grant) to support Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis and/or your program
4. Grow the sport.
5. Support the Collegiate National Championships with attendance if possible.
To help you with the submission below is the assessment criteria that will be used.
-Articulated need for funds
-There is an assessment criteria to track player improvement and satisfaction
-A well-proposed program
-The focus is on growing Collegiate Wheelchair Tennis, while supporting a community program
-The application is presented professionally.
-Quantify how efforts have been made to find University and Local Support to help establish permanency and financial independence for the Program once the grant expires.
