  • OAK TAX:  2025 City Of Oakland Tax Affidavit

  • CITY OF OAKLAND TAX WAIVER

UVFM WILL PAY THIS TAX FOR YOU!

If you have sold at any City of Oakland markets in 2025 (Old Oakland, Montclair, or Temescal), you are required to submit this affidavit with sales information for a City of Oakland Business Tax Exemption.

Urban Village Farmers Market (UVFM) pays the City of Oakland Business Tax on your behalf, based on the total sales from these markets. Submitting this form waives and protects individual producers from having to pay the City’s minimum business tax of $60 per year.

All information provided is held in strict confidentiality by UVFM and will only be shared with the City of Oakland if required in the event of an audit.

  • Become a WIC Authorized Farmer

We urge ALL UVFM Fresh Produce/Fruit Farmers to register with Women, Infants, & Children (WIC).

This allows you to accept WIC Payments (by QR Code or Checks) directly from customers.

You qualify if you grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Farmers who sell honey only are eligible for the Senior FMNP but not WIC.

  • LIVE-STOCK PRODUCERS

You Manage, Raise, or Tend to Animals for their Eggs, Meat, Dairy, Honey.
  • To advance UVFM's mission “to educate and connect communities with responsible producers as part of an Earth-friendly, equitable, and local food system,” the organization supports direct-to-consumer sales by local farms and ranches that demonstrate sustainable resource management in addition to good animal husbandry. UVFM's Certified Farmers Markets aim to ensure integrity and transparency of meat and poultry products offered for sale..

    1. UVFM will now be requireing Load-List forms from our Livestock and Fish vendors. UVFM Market Managers will pass out a form at the start of every market and collect it at the end of the day.

    2. By mid February of 2026, UVFM will be emailing out a new 2026 Livestock Producer Form. Producers must disclose their livestock management practices, including land use descriptions, breeding slaughter plans, and provide updates at each annual renewal process. UVFM reserves the right to refuse market access to producers utilizing AFO/CAFO (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) production, those who provide false or misleading information regarding their animal production practices.

UVFM expects producers who raise livestock for sale at UVFM Markets to practice:

    ●  Caring and responsible planning and management
    ●  Skilled and conscientious stockmanship
    ●  Appropriate environmental design
    ●  Considerate handling and transport

  • SEAFOOD SELLERS

You Catch, Raise, or Direct Source Seafood.
  • UVFM intends to establish a high standard of sustainaility and transparency that is based in current science and is fair to both fish sellers and consumers.

Transparency: UVFM will now be collecting LOAD LISTS from all Fish sellers, recording the total pounds loaded in, as well as sold, of each species per market day. Customer / Seller / and labeling must all be able to identify what is your own catch, and what you bought from other fishers/dealers/ wholesalers. At least 51% of seafood sold at UVFM markets must be fisher-direct.

Sustainability: All seafood sold at UVFM markets are recommended to be a “Best Choice- Green” or a “Good Alternative-Yellow” as determined by the scientific methods of seafoodwatch.org, a program of Monterey Bay Aquarium. Fish listed as “Avoid-Red” may not be sold at UVFM farmers markets.

Preferred methods of catch include pole and line, pot/trap, troll, and set/bottom long line.

I understand that it is strictly forbidden for any producer, as defined in the Urban Village Farmers’ Market Association (UVFM) Rules and Regulations, to resell products whether they are certified or not, at any Certified Farmers’ Market which UVFM operates.

I am also aware that State law forbids the re-sale of fresh fruits, nuts, vegetables, shell eggs, apiary products, flowers, and nursery stock at any Certified Farmers’ Market.

I realize that UVFM will suspend any owner, producer, employee or representative associated with the business that violates this important rule/law. A suspension applies to all markets managed by UVFM.

    1. Upon first violation of re-selling:

    a. At minimum, UVFM will immediately suspend the owner(s), producers(s), employee(s), or other representatives associated with the business for (1) one calendar year. Conditions for re-entry will include the costs of two (2) visits to the farm or other locations where products are produced, processed or held.

    b. At maximum, UVFM will immediately suspend the owner(s), producers(s), employee(s), or other representatives associated with the business "in perpetuity”.

    2. Upon second violation, there will be immediate and permanent disqualification of the owner(s), producers(s), employee(s), or other representatives associated with the business.

In the event the suspended party legally contests a decision of the Board of Directors, and the legal matter results in a decision favorable to UVFM, the suspended or disqualified party shall be liable for payment of the necessary and reasonable attorney’s fees of UVFM.
