SURVIVAL - S25 Camp Induction Day Checklist

Prepare Camp
SITE CAMP KIT - Collect kit either from on site storage or van. Move to camp area where it can be placed ready for structure erection.

PARACHUTE - 2 people: Throw a rope between two trees to use a ridge line. Attach parachute and pull rope tight. Tie off on to tree. Install each willow pole to parachute making sure that the rim of the parachute is the same height all the way round. Cut stakes and hammer into ground, attach guy lines. Survey and tighten as necessary.

FIRE CIRCLE - Clear fire area in the centre of the parachute. Collect logs for seating and create seat circle around parachute edge. Remove all trip hazards and ground litter.

Erect Bell Tents
ERECT BELL TENTS - Decide on a suitable place to pitch 2 x bell tents. 1 x will be used to keep the childrens bags safe and dry, and the other is to be used as an equipment store. Both entrances should be easily accessible from the base camp area (parachute) without having to walk around the outside of the tent to find the entrance. Entrances to be facing the base camp.

TENT CHECKS - You will be asked to re-position the tents if they are not neat. Ensure ground sheets are tight, pegs are hammered into the ground fully so that they are not trip hazards, and all guy lines are taught.

Inventory Kit
INVENTORY ALL KIT - All kit MUST be inventoried and marked on the inventory sheet. If any kit is missing or broken, replacements MUST be requested using the Kit Order Form.

Risk Assessment
With all risk assessments, refer to RA guidance, and systematically assess the areas we use, record any hazards present and control measures to be implemented. If an unacceptable risk remains, (high) contact Ops Manager for further guidance and do not use area until further control measures are introduced. If in doubt contact UAC head office for advice.
