2) JUROR
Harry Cooper is senior curator and head of modern art at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Since joining the Gallery in February 2008, he has organized exhibitions including The Robert and Jane Meyerhoff Collection: Selected Works (2009–2010), Stuart Davis: In Full Swing (2016–2017), and Oliver Lee Jackson: Recent Paintings (2019). Cooper also initiated the In the Tower series of focus exhibitions on such artists as Philip Guston, Mark Rothko, and Nam June Paik, and led the reinstallation of the East Building galleries for their reopening in September of 2016.
Before joining the Gallery in February 2008, Cooper served for ten years as the curator of modern art at the Harvard University Art Museums. There he organized a dozen exhibitions, including Frank Stella 1958 (2006), Medardo Rosso: Second Impressions(2003), and Mondrian: The Transatlantic Paintings (2001). Cooper lectured in Harvard's art history department on a wide variety of topics, from Paul Cézanne to abstract expressionism. He has also taught at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and Columbia University, New York.
A native of Bethesda, Maryland, Cooper began his career as a researcher at the Wilson Quarterly of the Smithsonian Institution. From 1985 to 1990 he taught adolescents with learning disabilities in the Washington, DC, region. From 1993 to 1995 Cooper worked as an exhibition specialist on the Piet Mondrian retrospective at the National Gallery of Art. He has published numerous articles as well as book reviews and criticism.
Cooper received a PhD in 1997 from Harvard University, an MA in 1992 from Johns Hopkins University, and an AB in American history and literature in 1981 from Harvard University. Cooper also holds a certificate in drawing and painting from the Corcoran Museum School of Art, Washington, DC.

*There is NO entry fee for those that have volunteered at least 2 hours of tasks approved by a VAA Chairman. You will receive a coupon code from your VAA Chairman which will allow you to enter with no fee.

ALL ENTRIES
A maximum of four (4) entries may be submitted.
Artwork may be created from any media, in both 2-D and 3-D. Video works are not accepted. Work must not have been previously included in a VAA exhibit.
Titles and prices must be included on your entry form and cannot be changed after submission.
Notification:
Those accepted will be notified by phone call followed by email. Those that are not accepted will be notified by email. Make sure the phone number and email address you enter are correct and messages from Exhibitions@VisualArtsAlliance.org do not go into your spam junk box.
Image files must be submitted electronically.
Images, in the form of a JPEG, will have a maximum size of 10 MB.
Image file naming:
“Last Name, Entry #1, title.jpg”; Last Name, Entry #2, title.jpg”; etc. (except for 3D artwork images.

For example: Bill Jones’ first entry entitled Starry Night would look like the following (commas and all): Jones, Entry #1, Starry Night.jpg
Failure to name files in this way will result in disqualification without a refund.
Artist and art information: Do not use all caps or all lower case in any submitted data except the state abbreviation.
Check your entry information carefully; we do not edit any data, such as title spellings. Incorrect data input will result in inclusion of the errors in promotional material, such as brochure and wall tags.
Sales Transactions:
VAA does not require a commission on sales of this exhibition. Sales are handled directly by the artist.
WALL-MOUNTED ENTRIES
A diptych or triptych is considered a single work of art, but the combined dimensions may not exceed 100".
Artwork dimensions
The maximum size is 100", including frame, if applicable.
3D ENTRIES
Up to three images may be submitted for each 3D work. The format for multiple image filenames which must be followed exactly is: Last name, Entry #a, Title.jpg; Last name, Entry #b, Title.jpg; Last name, Entry #c, Title.jpg.
For example: Jones, Entry 1a, Red Cube.jpg; Jones, Entry 1b, Red Cube.jpg, etc.
A video may also be submitted. Formats include wma, mpg, flv only.

Based on our experience with jurors in more than 80 exhibitions, we offer the following general
advice and guidelines
to all artists entering any exhibition.

This exhibition is open to anyone aged 18 and over.
