The applicant may apply once every 12 months, for a grant of $500 to help cover out of pocket expenses for pet insurance, veterinary appointments/treatments/inoculaitons, and pet food.
Receipts MUST accompany Grant Application.
Service animals, as defined by ADA (the Americans with Disabilities Act), as any breed and size dog, individually trained to do work or perform tasks directly related to a person's disability. A person with a disability is someone who:
- has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities,
- has a history or record of such an impairment (such as cancer that is in remission) OR
- is percieved by others as having such an impairment (such as a person who has scars from a severe burn)
Applicant MUST be a current member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or it's Auxiliary of the Department of Colorado. Post and Auxiliary members MUST include their membership number.
The following are accepted expenses:
- Receipt(s) from insurance company for annual Pet Insurance Premium
- Receipt(s) from veterinary office(s) for appointments/treatmetns/inoculations
- Receipt(s) for pet food
