Dr. Max Darby Mermorial Fund Supported Place

The Dr. Max Darby Supported Place is now open to applications.

We are offering a supported place for an eligible educator to attend ArtEdVic's Re-assemble Art Education Conference 2026. We encourage those from regional, low-SFOE, or specialist schools to apply.

Conference Date: 10 July 2026

Location: RMIT University, Storey Hall, Building 16, Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD.

Please submit applications by Friday 26 June, 11:59pm.

About the Dr. Max Darby Memorial Fund

This fund honors the enduring legacy of the late Dr. Max Darby, an esteemed Arts Education Consultant, Artist in Residence, Workshop Leader, Senior Art Teacher, and Life Member of Art Education Victoria, who passed away in June 2022. The supported place reflects his commitment to the profession and his belief in supporting teachers, particularly those in regional areas, an area where he provided support and constructive advice to teachers and students.

ELIGIBILITY CHECKLIST (You must belong to one or more of the following categories)

Educators from low socio-economic backgrounds or those working in low socio-economic schools, including Regional schools in Victoria)
First Nation/Aboriginal/Koorie Pre-Service Teachers and Art Educators
Art Educators who are new to teaching art and have two years or less of experience
Art Educators from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with five years or less of experience
Art Educators working in Special Schools supporting children with disabilities
Art Educators supporting or working with LGBTQI+ young people (open to any sector, including health services)
