    Learning to ride a bike is a fantastic way to promote independence and self-sufficiency, it also allows you the opportunity to get outside, build fitness, and find new social connections all while having fun! That's why we have partnered with Beyond Boundaries to offer an Inclusive Learn to Ride program along the VA Capital Trail. The Inclusive Learn to Ride program is here to help young individuals with disabilities learn to ride a two wheeled bike over the course of 8 weeks.
  • When

    Wednesdays 5:30pm - 7:00pm starting Sept 3rd going till Oct 22nd. Oct 29th is a rain makeup day.

    Dorey Park's back parking lot, right across from the Dog Park. The address is 7399 Dorey Park Dr, Henrico, VA 23231.

    Teens (13-17) with a disability who are interested in learning to ride a traditional, two-wheeled bike.

    • How long does this program last?

      This program is 8 weeks long with each session lasting approximately 90 min. For best outcomes, attendance at all sessions is strongly encouraged. 
    • What if there is poor weather on a program date?

       If severe weather occurs, the program will be canceled and an additional week will be added on to the end of the series.
    • What disabilities can you accommodate?

      We can accommodate a wide range of cognitive and intellectual disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome, and TBIs. 
    • Can someone with physical disabilities attend?

      That depends on the level of support needed. Please reach out to george@beyondboundariesrva.org for more information. 
    • What should I wear?

      Comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing that is appropriate for the weather. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes with a grippy sole. Crocs and other “slide” style shoes are not appropriate. 
    • Do I need to have my own equipment?

      No! Bikes and Helmets are provided by BB. If you would like to use your personal helmet, please feel free to bring it.
    • Are there any age or size restrictions?

      Our bikes are suitable for ages 8 through adulthood. Inseam measurement of 23 inches through 34 inches. Maximum weight is 300lbs.
