  • Purpose of the fund

The aim of the Health Needs and Assets Assessment (HNAA) grant programme is to provide seedcorn funding for local organisations to improve local health and wellbeing outcomes in line with priorities identified in the recent HNAAs. This programme is funded by Public Health and will be distributed by Volition Leeds (a partner in Forum Central).

The programme focuses on tackling health inequalities by addressing their root causes. The Healthy Communities, Primary Care and Public Health Team have produced Health Needs and Assets Assessments for: (The HNAAs for each area are linked below)

Gipton, Harehills, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill, Cross Flatts Park (Beeston Hill),  Holbeck and Armley.

A localities HNAA is a place-based approach to deliver a thorough assessment and understanding of the population living in our most underserved communities.  The purpose is to both, add data and intelligence to ongoing work in the area which aims to mitigate the impact of poverty and provide a rationale for resource acquisition and allocation.  The intelligence gathered has helped create a strong evidence-base, which can inform targeted interventions to improve the well-being of residents.

We recognise that communities and local partners already have valuable insight into local needs and are well-placed to identify solutions. This funding will support hyper-local innovation and small-scale projects that respond to the specific challenges identified in each HNAA, combined with community voice and the knowledge of local partners and leaders.
