    WHSC Instructor Training (General/Advanced Program)

Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) Instructor Training Program is an intensive, instructor-led development program designed to prepare participants to deliver high-quality occupational health and safety training using WHSC’s “Workers Training Workers” model. Training is delivered in-person in a classroom setting and focuses on adult education theory and practice, engaging learners, and learning how to prepare for instruction while following WHSC’s detailed session plans and required learning objectives (including meeting ministry obligations tied to specific programs). The program runs between 5 and 10 days, depending on the participant’s instructional experience, current certifications, and instructor training class size. Candidates with a college or university background in adult education—or those already certified through another recognized health and safety organization’s instructor training—may qualify for the 5-day stream. Those new to instructing are generally placed in a longer program (typically a minimum of 8 days). Participants are expected to complete assignments, deliver presentations, and actively participate in group learning, with mentored and evaluated practice sessions as part of the process. While the instructor training program is in-person, participants also receive preparation for delivering WHSC instructor-led training in online, virtual classrooms.
