  • Honors Eligibility Requirements

  • If you do not meet the requirements below, you must submit the application essay:

    To be eligible to join the Honors College, students must satisfy the following criteria:

    INCOMING FRESHMEN

    Meet A or B below:

    A.  3.75 overall high school GPA (based on a 4.0 scale); or

    B.  Satisfy two of the following criteria:

    • 3.4 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
    • 24 ACT or 1160 SAT
    • Top 15% of high school graduating class

    INCOMING TRANSFERS OR CURRENT WIU STUDENTS

    12 or more semester hours earned with a 3.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale

    APPLICATION ESSAY

    If you do not meet the above criteria, upload your 300 word essay discussing your personal and academic experiences that have prepared you to successfully meet and maintain the Honors College graduation requirements. Use specific examples of experiences you believe make you a strong candidate for the Centennial Honors College.

    Essays will be reviewed by the Honors College selection committee. You will be notified of an admission decision at the address provided on your Honors application.

     

    PLEASE NOTE: If you do not meet admission requirements and do not submit the essay, your application cannot be considered.
