    Warwick PAL is constantly seeking coaches & team staff to support our programs, our participants and their families.

    Anyone selected to be involved with PAL is subject to a background check, child safety training and must meet the standard requirements to be approved.

     The following information is current but may be subject to change.   

    Coaching Requirements:

    Minimum age - Head coaches and Asst Caoches must be at least 18 years old.  

    Training - ALL adult team staff (coaches, asst. coaches, team moms, managers, etc) must complete the required program training as well as any additional training given by Warwick PAL to ensure the proper understanding of the program and its rules; mandates from the league and the expected conduct of all involved.  If you're currently certified to coach, please attach any certificate that you may have.  

    Background Screenings - ALL adults (coaches, asst. coaches, team moms, managers, etc) must complete the required application and pass the background screening as facilitated by Warwick PAL in order to be considered for any position.

    Commitment - You are here for the kids!  Warwick PAL wants to build good athletes but even better people.  Life lessons and athletic fundamentals are paramount to their future success.  And they want to have fun while doing it!  In the end, kids remember this more than the wins and losses.  By becoming a team staff member, regardless of position, you must be there for them the entire time.     

    Compensation - Once you meet the program's coaching/staff minimum criteria, head coaches and board members can receive up to 100% reimbursement for his/her player on the team while assistant coaches and Team Mom/Manager can receive 50% reimbursement for his/her player on the team.  These will be given at the end of the season.

  • Warwick PAL's priority is to protect our players and families from those who engage in criminal activity, demonstrate repeated questionable behavior and/or place others in harm's way.  If selected to participate in any Warwick Police Athletic League program, you will receive an additional link to a national criminal background service. To start your local background screening, please answer the following questions. 

    Falsifying information and/or omissions are grounds for initial denial and for removal in the event the proper information is discovered post Warwick PAL approval.

  • By submitting this application, I understand and agree to the following if selected

    ·         To not smoke, vape and/or use smokeless tobacco on the field or in front of participants at any time.

    ·         Abstain from drinking alcoholic beverages, using marijuana and/or possessing/using any illegal substance on the field, in the building or in front of participants at any time.

    ·         Not to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (prescription, marijuana or illicit) which interferes with the proper care and attention necessary to supervise children.

    ·         To not have habitual negative contacts with law enforcement.

    ·         Accept decisions of the game officials and judges on the field and in competitions as being fair and called to the best of their ability.

    ·         Not to criticize any PAL team, its players, cheer participants, coaches, or fans by word of mouth or by gesture.

    ·         Not to criticize an opposing team, its players, cheer participants, coaches, or fans by word of mouth or by gesture.

    ·         To not deliberately incite unsportsmanlike conduct.

    ·         Be jointly responsible for the conduct and control of team fans and spectators. Any parent, guardian or fan that becomes a nuisance and out of control must be asked to leave.

    ·         To not use abusive or profane language. 

    ·         Not to criticize/berate fellow PAL volunteers or staff members but rather provide constructive criticism, discuss the issue in private and/or file a complaint using the proper procedure.

    ·         Not to criticize/berate participants but rather provide constructive criticism in private or in the presence of team/squad members if others might benefit from the message.

    ·         To not make disparaging remarks, spread rumors and/or gossip including person-to-person conversations, phone calls, emails, texting, social media posts and internet posts, which is general talk not based on fact or talk based of intentional dislike for another.  It not only hurts the organization’s credibility, but affects the team/squad involved, the other team/squad and league/conference/division where the sport plays.

    ·         Not to recommend or distribute any medication, controlled or over the counter.

    ·         To not permit or encourage “extreme dieting” or “sweating down” tactics of any kind for any reason.

    ·         Remove any participant when his/her health is in question from a game or practice, whether or not as a result of injury, until competent medical advice is available.

    ·         Follow rules and regulations governing the sport.

    ·         Uphold all rules and regulations of the Association, Conference, Region, and National governing body specific to your sport as well as those of Warwick PAL.

    ·         Follow the sport program models identified at the beginning of each season.

    ·         Not to use ineligible players and will take the responsibility of having proper and legal documents on each and every player proving his eligibility at all times if required by the sport.

    ·         Insure that all participants meet the minimum required number of plays under the mandatory play rules if applicable.

    ·         Not to encourage their team to intentionally run up the score on an opponent. In the event of a commanding lead every effort shall be made to let all players play.

    If a person is found to have violated any of the Standard of Conduct or its intentions that person is subject to discipline by Warwick PAL including possible suspension from the organization. 

  • FOLLOWING THE REVIEW AND ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR APPLICATION, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM WARWICK PAL FOR AN ONLINE BACKGROUND SCREENING AND ITS ASSOCIATED SAFETY TRAINING. 

    IF YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED BASED ON THE SUBMITTED INFORMATION, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM WARWICK PAL STATING THAT AND WILL NOT RECEIVE THE BACKGROUND/TRAINING LINK.
