Statement of Board Commitment
Thank you for agreeing to serve on the Board of Directors for the Watauga County Arts Council. We strive to make the arts a presence in our community. Our mission statement is “To Sponsor and Encourage the Cultural Arts in Watauga County.”
We expect the following from our Board Members:
- Attendance: Board members are expected to regularly attend board meetings.
- Financial Support: Board members are expected to be current members of the Arts Council. Failure to maintain this status will result in being removed from the board.
- Length of Term: Board members serve three-year terms which may be repeated up to two consecutive terms.
- Fundraising: Board members are expected to participate in fundraising. There are a wide variety of tasks through which this can be accomplished, both behind the scenes and publicly.
- Time Commitment: The average time commitment is approximately seven hours per month including board meetings. This will vary according to the individual’s choice of areas of responsibility and the season.
- All board members are expected to participate in the planning and activities of at least one of the teams or committees of the organization.
- All board members must sign the Confidentiality Policy for the WCAC and make themselves aware of all WCAC policies (which are provided in the nominating packet).
