Businesses are invited to join us in this special weekend by participating in one day or two, your choice!

Participating businesses will get an Oktoberfest-themed flag banner to hang in their doorways for the weekend, signaling participation. They will also be included in our free event passport for visitors to use to explore the various offerings.

Businesses are encouraged to provide Oktoberfest-themed food, drink, activities, or competitions, but it is not required. If Oktoberfest theme is not your thing, you can participate by offering a coupon or other special for the passport.

All businesses are asked to provide something for our raffle which will be used to encourage use of the passport.

Businesses will be a sent a list of artists and performers they can choose to invite or hire to provide demonstrations or entertainment on Saturday.

This is a fundraiser to support the Arts through the Watauga County Arts Council (WAC). WAC works quietly behind the scenes helping to bolster the arts in the High Country through advocacy, education, support, and inspiration of the arts. They help to create a vibrant community where creativity can flourish.

Friday - we place artists in specific places throughout King Street depending on what they are doing. On Saturday, we will allow artists and performers to place themselves because there are less. Some artists and performers may be available for hire. Oktoberfest Ideas..
For Oktoberfest, we would love to have as many businesses and restaurants participate as possible. Each business could decorate Oktoberfest decor and choose to offer an Oktoberfest activity, food, or competition to participate in the festivities. We would promote the list of participating businesses and restaurants and their activities. We would attempt to schedule competitions so people can hop from one business to another to compete in Oktoberfest competitions.

Need Ideas? We have a long list of Artists and performers who would love to enhance your space for this event. We also have a long list of Oktoberfest Foods, Activities, Music, and Competitions to browse if you need help determining how you want to participate.

Social District Anyone?

Social District Definition: Is a defined outdoor area in which a citizen may consume alcoholic beverages sold by a permittee.

Many businesses and residents have expressed a desire for a social district. WAC received feedback from Buskers Fest participants, stating that they were disappointed they couldn't walk with a beer while enjoying all the art demonstrations and performances on the sidewalks.

We may or may not pursue this idea this year due to the time it would require to pull it off, but we feel that a Boonetoberfest is a perfect example of an event that would benefit from a Social District. We are considering pursuing permissions for a social district for this special event to act as a pilot to prove the concept for a formal social district for the Town.
