Creating An Event Description
Once you've hooked your audience with a title, the next step is to create an event description that helps them understand what your event actually is, what they might get out of it, and why they should attend. This should leave them wanting more but give them enough information to make an informed decision.
What it is: A brief overview or summary of what attendees can expect from the session.
How to do it:
- Identify the Core Message: what is the main takeaway or idea this session should communicate?
- Incorporate storytelling elements
- Problem statement: what issues/questions are you trying to address?
- Transormation: how does this session aim to transform participants; thinking or practice?
- Journey: what journey will participants go on during the session?
- Evoke curiosity
- Suggest a surprising fact, statistic or anecdote related to the topic
- Pose an intriguing question the session aims to answer
- Make a list of key takeaways; what they should get out of this experience
- Provide a loose agenda; talking time, activity/interactive time, Q&A time and downtime should all be defined
