Dear College Union Applicant:
We are excited by your interest in being part of the 2018-2019 College Union board! CU exists to serve the Lord by providing opportunities and experiences for rest, play, and fellowship for students at Wheaton College. The board consists of the President and eleven additional positions: Business Manager, Public Relations, Graphics Designer, Events Coordinators (4), Student Arts Coordinator, Concerts Manager, Student Music Coordinator and Audiovisual Technician.
We ask that you consider the following expectations before you apply:
You are committed to the purpose of College Union as described above, taking ownership of your job duties, events, and helping others in theirs.
You are committed and dedicated to College Union for the full academic year. This means that you are willing to forgo other commitments so that you may commit more fully to College Union.
As a student leader in the SAO, you currently must have and thus maintain a 2.5 GPA.
You are ready to be challenged and confronted with yourself, as you and your group strive to shape each other into the likeness of Christ.
Please take some time to review the job description of the position(s) that you are interested in.
You will be able to return to campus in early August for the HoneyRock leadership retreat (August 12-18)
You are required to attend all weekly meetings, and the majority – if not all – of College Union’s events.
All information received both in your application and references are confidential. The complete application is due by Monday, March 19th at 12pm. The complete application consists of the application form and two references (one from a faculty member or staff person and one from a peer). It is your responsibility to email your references the link and make sure your references have completed your reference form by March 19. As a part of the application process, you will need to complete the "paper bag task". Please come to the interview with a creative expression of yourself by showing what can be done with a simple paper bag. Your only guideline is to be creative. Once you have submitted your application, please sign up for an interview time in the SAO and pick up your paper bag for the "paper bag" element of the interview. Interviews will be held in the Student Activities Office from Tuesday, March 20 - Wednesday, March 28.
If you are selected, there will be a second stage in the interview process. This group interview will take place on the evening of Wednesday, April 4th. More information will follow as this date approaches.
If you have ANY questions regarding this application process or about being part of the College Union board, please feel free to contact either of us.
