Presentation
Your appearance makes a statement. You must remember that you are representing Jesus Christ and LFBC. Whether you are counselling in a cabin or on support staff, you are a model for campers. Therefore, we expect moderation in appearance with the absence of extremes (e.g. clothing that might be provocative to the opposite sex). Tattoos and body piercings (other than earrings) should be subtle, avoiding anything extreme or offensive. Any tattoos that are deemed inappropriate must be kept covered. Moderation and discretion are expected in the number and size of body piercings and earrings for male and female staff. The final decision as to what are moderate, discrete and appropriate rests with the Board of Directors and/or Camp Director. If you are uncertain, check with the Board of Directors or Camp Director.
Bring clothing that is comfortable, modest, and practical. Most of your time is spent outdoors. Prepare for hot, wet or cool conditions.
Male Staff - Underwear should not show to the best of your ability. Speedos are not to be worn by staff. If campers wear them, they should be urged to wear something else. T-shirts are to be worn to and from the beach. Swimwear is to be worn only during swimming time or when instructed to do so. Male staff should not go bareback except down by the beach during swim time. Shorts should be reasonable in length, and shirts should fully cover the torso to the best of your ability with your arms raised.
Female Staff – Underwear, including bra straps, should not show to the best of your ability. One piece bathing suits or tankinis are encouraged. Bikinis, two-piece bathing suits or bathing suits with revealing cut-outs are not to be worn by staff. If campers wear them, they should be urged to wear something else. T-shirts are to be worn to and from the beach. Swimwear is to be worn only during swimming time or when instructed to do so. Shorts, skirts and dresses should be reasonable in length, and shirts should fully cover the torso to the best of your ability with your arms raised.
To help us carry out our mission well, the following is in effect while at camp:
- Clothing with symbols, images, words that may be offensive or viewed as dishonourable may not be worn
- Clothing that is torn inappropriately may not be worn
- Yoga pants, leggings or excessively tight clothing may not be worn
- Shorts or skirts must be a minimum of 4" inseam and outseam
- Halter-tops, spaghetti strap tops, and crop tops may not be worn
- Bikinis/mens speedos or otherwise skimpy swimwear may not be worn. If that’s all you own, please bring appropriate tops/bottoms to wear over top (ie. tank tops, board shorts, etc)
- Swimwear is only to be worn during swim time and water activities.
- Undergarments, cleavage, buttocks and midriff may not be exposed.
- Men shall wear shirts while on the grounds (no white undershirts).
- Footwear must be worn at all times. Swim time, water games and some sports are the exceptions.
- Tattoos, body art, piercings; staff serving on site may be asked by leadership to either remove or appropriately cover up as deemed necessary. It is a vital consideration for our ministry to all youth/staff/volunteers/parents/caregivers, as representatives of the LFBC staff team.
This can be seen as our "uniform" for while you're at work and the leadership of LFBC will come alongside and help bring clarity as needed. Neatness, professionalism and respect towards campers, staff and Christ Jesus are key factors when considering what to wear as LFBC Staff Team Members as we regularly have campers and parents watching and taking cues from us.
