THE DETAILS
Calling all photographers! The Wolfdog Photography Tour is a tour that gives you the opportunity to photograph 3 different wolfdog pack without visual barriers. You will also have access to explore at your own pace photographing the wolfdogs from the outside of the enclosures. This program aims to run only a few times a year at the most picturesque points of each season. While we aim to run these sessions with the peak points of each season, we cannot guarantee any weather conditions.
*If weather conditions are not suitable (eg. calling for extreme cold, no snow, etc.) we may make the call to reschedule the tour. This will be done with a minimum of 7-days notice.
This is a semi-private tour with a 10 person capacity per session. This is a walking and standing tour.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
20 min session in Galatea Tour Structure

20 min session in Engadine Tour Structure

20 min session at Fortress through the fence
(If weather permits, there will be 2 different locations)
Access to explore Sanctuary and photograph wolfdogs from the outside of the enclosures (self-guided)

Recommended visit time is 2-2.5 hours.
Since the Sanctuary does not open until 10 am, you'll have exclusive access to photograph the wolfdogs at one of the best times! The wolfdogs are often the most active between 8 am - 10 am as this is a cooler point of the day. Additionally, some of our more shy wolfdogs are more confident during these times. The guided portion will run from about 8:40 am until 9:40 am. Following this, you have as much time up until 5 pm to access the Self-Guided Sanctuary Walk.
A guide will be available to answer questions and encourage the wolfdogs to position themselves for photos during the 60 min. guided portion. Please note: The wolfdogs are not trained to pose and are encouraged to behave naturally. The guide will be tossing out food and providing enrichment periodically throughout the tour to keep the wolfdogs interested in us and create positive experiences.
The guide has the right to make any adjustments or changes to the program if the wolfdogs are not comfortable. ie. reducing the time spent in an area or moving to a different enclosure.
WHAT TO BRING
In order to participate in this program, we do recommend you have a camera. A phone does not suffice and this tour is not designed for cellphone content. We recommend any DSLR or Mirrorless Camera. The wolfdogs will be at different distances away throughout the program, so we recommed a 55-250mm or larger lens. A lens with a long focal length is recommended to allow for fence blurring during the self-guided portion. Please contact us if you have any questions!
Mutiple lenses and tripods are welcome! In the Engadine and Galatea tour structures, there will be shelter from weather elements such as rain or snow. The remaining portion you will be out in the elements, so be prepared for the weather.
Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is not responsible for any equipment that is damaged.
CANCELLATIONS

We understand there are some circumstances that are unavoidable, and we will always try to be as accommodating as possible
