Working With Young People Rules
If you are hoping to work directly with youth as a mentor, please read and sign our rules below. These are in place to keep youth protected at all times, and make sure we are providing a child safe environment.
            1. Never be alone with a young person
If for whatever reason you find yourself in this situation, please move out of it. The youth will use the bathrooms in pairs.
            2. Boundaries
High fives and handshakes are fine but no other touching is appropriate, including hugs. In an online context, please also keep the following boundaries in mind:

              - No direct messaging in the chat
- Ensure that when screen sharing, there is nothing inappropriate on your computer
- Ensure that you are presenting in an appropriate place (e.g. an office, home office rather than a bedroom), or have a zoom background on to maintain privacy
- Use child-friendly language and examples (no swearing or adult references, including drinking/gambling/sexual type examples)
3. No personal details
Do not exchange personal details like social media accounts (where you live, adding to facebook etc) or arrange external meetings directly. If there is someone the group should meet - please arrange through Young Change Agents staff so we can liaise with their parents/guardians.
            4. No photography
No photos should be taken or shared on social media. Young Change Agents are seeking permission for still image release so we will take and post some images (where permission is granted and the young person is happy to post!) so you will be able to retweet/repost those photos if you like!
            5. Duty of care
Finally, if a young person brings up any personal issues with you or anything that makes you worry, please bring this to our attention so we can advise their parents/guardians. We have a duty of care to report something if they are at risk.
