  • JOB DESCRIPTION

    Carpentry Crew Laborer

    Full-Time | Long-Term | Residential & Light Commercial Construction

    Zimmerman Building Company is seeking a highly experienced construction professional with strong field expertise, especially related to rough carpentry. This is a long-term, full-time position with a medium-size construction company committed to delivering high-quality projects and maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform skilled field carpentry work with a focus on rough framing, including walls, headers, partitions, roof structures, and general structural layout.
    • Install residential windows and doors as well as commercial steel framed doors with precision and attention to detail.
      Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and field plans to ensure accurate execution.
    • Use construction math and measurement skills for layout, cuts, and elevations.
    • Ensure all work meets local building codes, safety standards, and company quality requirements.
    • Occasionally assist other crews with other work such as, siding, roofing, drywall, finish carpentry, etc.
    • Safely use hand and power tools to complete carpentry related tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
    • Drive company trucks and haul trailers when needed.
    • Collaborate closely with site foremen, project managers, and other crew members to deliver high-quality, efficient work on schedule.


    Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on construction experience, including wood framing and/or metal stud framing. As well as window and door installation.
    • Additional trades skills (siding, electrical, etc.) are preferred but not required.
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, code compliance, and safety practices.
    • Ability to read blueprints and field plans for wall layouts and opening sizes.
    • Physically capable of performing demanding work: lifting, climbing, digging, and standing for extended periods.
    • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Must have a team-first attitude, communicate effectively, and contribute to a productive job site culture.
    • Willingness and ability to learn, cross-train, and work independently when needed.
    • Drug-free commitment: candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
