  • Qualifications
     Article 3.3 of JABGA Bylaws
    (a) Any Member who is 16 years of age or older on January 1 of the year of election who desires to be a director of JABGA shall (i) so notify JABGA at the Association’s principal office in writing not later than March 1 of the year of election and (ii)submit at such time a completed and signed Conflict of Interest Statement and Code of Conduct on the forms required by the Association.
     
    (g) At all times during each director’s term, he or she must reside in the region for which he or she was elected, and he or she must maintain his or her membership. Failure to comply with either of the above requirements shall result in the automatic removal of a director from the JABGA Board.
     
    Please be sure to complete all requirements and submit to the ABGA Office no later than March 1, 2026.
     
    The newly elected JABGA Board of Directors will be announced during the JABGA National Show Awards banquet. Attendance for the National Show and Awards Banquet is highly recommended.

    • Serve as a positive role model and uphold the mission and values of JABGA. 
    • Represent junior members at official JABGA events, meetings, and activities. 
    • Promote awareness and education about the Boer Goat breed and livestock industry. 
    • Mentor and support younger and newer members, fostering inclusivity and engagement. 

    Personal Development

    • Strengthen public speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills through presentations, social media engagement, and community outreach. 
    • Embrace opportunities for leadership development and training offered by JABGA and related agricultural organizations. 
    • Demonstrate maturity, professionalism, and a commitment to continual personal improvement. 

    Responsibility & Commitment

    • Attend and actively participate in scheduled board meetings, conference calls, and JABGA-sponsored events. 
    • Complete assigned projects, committee work, and initiatives in a timely and responsible manner. 
    • Collaborate effectively with fellow board members, JABGA staff, and the American Boer Goat Association (ABGA). 
    • Maintain a professional and respectful presence, both in person and online. 
    • Adhere to JABGA’s Code of Conduct, confidentiality policies, and organizational guidelines. 

    Terms of Service Commitments

    • Attend the JABGA National Show: Full participation is required, including board meetings, contests, official duties, and public representation. Showing at the JABGA National Show is encouraged, this should not impede your Junior Board responsibilities of coordinating junior activities and assisting at the show.  
    • Attend your JABGA Regional Show: Members are expected to attend and assist at a minimum of one (1) Regional Show during their term. 
      Showing at the JABGA Regional Shows is encouraged, this should not impede your Junior Board responsibilities of coordinating junior activities and assisting at the show.  
    • Summer Face to Face: Members are expected to attend the summer Junior Board Face to Face Meeting.
    • Remain in Good Standing: Members must maintain active JABGA membership and comply with all organizational policies.
    • Attend all monthly board meetings

    *Missing more than 2 consecutive meetings of the JABGA Board; or whenever in JABGA Board's judgement, and in consultation with the Youth Liaison of the Association, the best interests of JABGA would be served thereby.*

  • Whereas I desire for my child/ward to participate as a Director on the JABGA Board of Directors, and I hereby agree to the following:
    1.  I assume full legal and financial responsibility for their participation as a Director for the JABGA.
    2. I grant the American Boer Goat Association, its employees, agents and representatives the authority to act in any attempt to safeguard and preserve his/her health and safety during their participation as a Director of the JABGA, including authorizing medical treatment and transportation on their/my behalf and at my expense. Accident and health  insurance are recommended for his/her participation as a Director of the JABGA.
    3. I agree my child/ward must conform to all applicable rules.
    4. I voluntarily indemnify and hold harmless the American Boer Goat Association, Board of Directors of the American Boer Goat Association, their employees, agents, and representatives from any and all liability, loss, damages, costs, or expenses (including attorney fees) arising out of my child’s/ward’s participation which do not arise out of the negligent acts or omissions of an officer, employee, or agent of the American Boer Goat Association and/or Board of Directors while acting within the scope of their employment or agency.
    5. I understand that the ABGA and JABGA may take photographs and/or videos of Directors. I agree the ABGA and JABGA shall be the owner of and may use such photographs and/or videos relating to the promotion of the JABGA. I relinquish all rights that I may claim relation to the use of said photographs and/or videos.
    6. I also authorize the release of my child’s/ward’s name, state of residence, email address and area of representation for the promotion of the JABGA.
