AJ played point guard for the Shamrocks and served as a co-captain. He became known as a productive scorer and was recognized in local sports coverage for several strong performances. Basketball taught him the importance of preparation, teamwork, accountability, and staying focused under pressure.
During high school, AJ also worked at Meadows Fine Wine and Liquor in Farmington Hills, Michigan. His responsibilities included managing and stocking inventory, placing orders, and operating the register. The position gave him practical experience with customer service, organization, inventory management, and day-to-day business operations.

AJ Abdelnour's interest in landscaping reflects a broader appreciation for outdoor activities. Community involvement has remained an important part of AJ Abdelnour's life, particularly when it involves helping younger athletes develop their abilities. For four summers, he worked as a basketball trainer at Get Skillz Basketball in Livonia, Michigan. He trained children and teenagers between the ages of five and 16 in areas such as dribbling, shooting, footwork, and overall basketball fundamentals.
AJ also reviewed game film with athletes to help them understand performance, positioning, and decision-making. He later became involved with Hoopdrillz Basketball Academy, an organization operated by his former basketball trainer. The academy focuses on creating a community where players, coaches, and former participants can encourage improvement, mentorship, responsibility, and personal growth.

His volunteer work with Focus Hope in Detroit included designing and coordinating the construction of a garden that incorporated a refurbished storage container. The project supported the distribution of food and clothing while also creating a safe community space for children after school.
AJ has additionally been involved with UNICEF at Michigan State University and has participated in international volunteer service. In March 2024, he traveled to an economically disadvantaged community in Jamaica with approximately 30 other volunteers. During the week-long trip, the group provided assistance to roughly 300 local residents.
