  • Page 3 - SHARP Support and Service Obligation

  • Attention SHARP-1 Applicants: All eligible SHARP-1 employer sites must be located in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). This is because of the level of federal funding in SHARP-1. No minimum HPSA score required.

SHARP-1 only provides education loan repayment- SHARP makes quarterly payments directly to the lender/loan holder. Payments are exempt from federal income taxation.

  • Attention SHARP-3 Applicants: SHARP-3 does not rely on public funding, so all sites are potentially eligible to apply for consideration. The purpose of SHARP-3, as with all components of the SHARP Program, is to provide medical, dental, and behavioral health care to underserved populations. Site eligibility will be determined by the SHARP Advisory Council and the Commissioner of the Department of Health & Social Services.

SHARP-3 provides both education loan repayment and/or direct incentives. Loan repayments are exempt from federal income taxation.

  • Please select below an occupation from one of the three tiers of SHARP occupations. REQUIRED

  • Licensed occupation Tier 3: Not otherwise eligible for Tier 1 or Tier 2. Regular- $15,000 per year. Very Hard-to-Fill- $20,250 per year

SHARP-3 offers the opportunity to include occupations not included in Tiers 1 and 2. Tier-3 occupations can include non-licensed health care positions and administrative positions. There is not a specific list of Tier-3 occupations. State the occupation you would like considered for Tier-3. The SHARP Advisory Council will determine if the occupation is eligible.
