  • Advanced Conservation Drainage Training Program

    Building capacity to address nutrient losses from tile systems
  • We are accepting applications for this unique, three-part training course, which provides drainage designers, contractors, farmers, farm managers, retailers, drainage commissioners, and conservation practitioners with knowledge and tools to make conservation drainage a strandard part of tile installation and farm management. 

    Our Summer 2019 trainings will focus on the saturated buffer, constructed wetland, and drainage water management practices. Training sessions will include:

    • Expert-led presentations on science behind each practice
    • Small group application exercises and hands-on field experiences
    • Overviews of conservation practice standards
    • In field demonstrations, site visits, and testimonials from real landowners
    • Discussions aof the barriers and opportunities to edge-of-field practice adoption
    • Practical tips for communicating with landowners about conservation drainage
    • Disscussions on economics and cost-share programs.

     CEUs will be available for each training session. 

     

    Spaces in training workshops are limited.

  • Funding is provided for travel and related expenses; however, we cannot cover the cost of your time.  The three workshops are progressive, and we expect trainees to prioritize their workloads to be able to attend all three. We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise, but are you willing to commit to the three workshops listed above?

  • Following the workshop series, each trainee will commit to participating in at least one outreach event in his/her local area. For example, an event could be hosted in partnership with your local SWCD, Farm Bureau chapter, a drainage district, or with a local contractor. Are you able to commit to this?
