As an organization that deals with animals, the AniMeals non-profit does not have a medical or behavioral history of the animals that fosters may come into contact with. A certain amount of risk is always involved, especially with unpredictable animals.

    FOSTER AGREEMENT

In consideration of this opportunity to foster with AniMeals, I agree to the following terms and conditions, intending to be legally bound by them:

    1. I will abide with the mission, rules, regulations, policies and programs of AniMeals.

    2. If I stop being a fosterer, or upon request by AniMeals, I will promptly return all AniMeals supplies, equipment, records and other items in good, clean condition.

    3. Considering that fostering positions at AniMeals require dealing with animals, I certify that I am able to perform the essential functions of the position.

    4. I assume the risk of being bitten, scratched or injured in connection with my fostering work. AniMeals is not liable to me for any injuries, illness, damages, liabilities, losses, judgments, costs or expenses whatsoever, which I might suffer or sustain in connection with fostering activities, unless they are the result of the gross negligence or intentional misconduct of AniMeals. I will indemnify, defend and hold the AniMeals organization harmless from and against any claims, lawsuits, injuries, damages, losses, costs or expenses whatsoever, sustained by any animal or person in connection with my intentional misconduct or grossly negligent performance of my fostering activities, or my breach of AniMeals rules, regulations, policies and programs.

    5. I understand that because I will be in contact with animals, it is important to discuss the tetanus vaccine with my physician. I release AniMeals from all responsibility that may occur because of my not pursuing this matter further and I understand whatever decision I make is at my own risk. I have read, understand and agree to the above tetanus information.

    6. I acknowledge and understand that as a fosterer of AniMeals, I am not covered by AniMeal’s workers compensation or any other insurance policy for any damages or injuries I may sustain during fostering activities.

    7. If such an incident does occur, I understand that I am to immediately notify an AniMeals employee.

    8. I understand that AniMeals may refuse fostering applications or discontinue fostering positions for any reason.

    9. I have accurately and truthfully completed this Foster Application and Agreement.

    10. I will immediately contact AniMeals if any health issues arise with my foster cats or kittens. If AniMeals is not contacted in an emergency situation I understand I will be denied from foster for AniMeals and will return all cats and their supplies.

    11. Any modification to this Agreement must be in writing and signed by both parties. This Agreement is binding upon AniMeals, me and my respective heirs, successors, assigns, executors, and personal representatives.

  • I have read, understand and agree to the above. I certify that the information provided here is accurate and complete.

  • AniMeals Foster Contract

  • Thank you so much for opening your home to be an AniMeals foster. The amount of time you are needed will depend on the age, weight and temperament of the entire litter as we usually do not separate them. Here are a few guidelines we require our fosters to follow while these cats are in your care:

    1) Please keep your pets separate from your foster cats. Most of our cats are usually healthy, but some may need medication due to URI or GI issues. We cannot guarantee that the cats you foster won't have an infectious disease. We will provide any needed medication and information necessary to resolve any new medical issues. We want to ensure that your pets remain healthy while you foster with us. Failure to abide by this requirement will result in your termination as a foster for us. This is nonnegotiable.

    2) If there are any medical issues, we ask you contact AniMeals immediately. We have medications at the shelter we can use to treat certain conditions. Please do not take them to your own vet, as we will not be able to reimburse you for the cost. As a nonprofit, we have arrangements with certain vet clinics for medical needs. Please do not share this phone number with anyone, as it is a private line for emergencies only.

    3) We will provide all supplies and equipment for you and the cats you foster. There are certain brands of food we use to ensure a healthy diet and proper weight gain. If you are running low on supplies, call the shelter so that we can arrange to have you pick up more. If you choose to purchase your own food, litter, etc., AniMeals will not reimburse you. We are in the shelter 7 days a week and can always provide what is needed.

    4) Once these animals are in your care, we ask that they stay in one location. It can be stressful on animals to be shuffled from one environment to another. This can cause illness and weight loss. The exception being that if we ask you return the fosters for whatever reason, you do so as soon as possible.

    5) When fostering kittens, you will be asked to do regular weight checks. This is to monitor any weight gain/loss. Male kittens can be neutered at 2# and females can be spayed at 2# 4oz. Once your kittens almost reach 2#, please let us know so we can get them scheduled for surgery.

    6) After surgery, you will be asked to take the kittens back for another 10-14 days. We ask this so that they can be watched by someone who is familiar with them to monitor eating habits, behavior, and weight gain post-surgery.

    7) On the day of surgery, we will need the cats dropped off at the shelter no later than 7 am, or you can drop off directly at the hospital by 7:30 am. You also have the option of dropping them off with us the night before if the morning does not work for you. We will transport them to the clinic and notify you when they are ready to be picked up. If you choose to transport your fosters directly to the clinic, we ask that you stop by the day before to pick up their information packet for the hospital.

    8) In the unlikely event a cat contracts a zoonotic disease (infections caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi that can be spread between animals and humans) and it is passes on to you, your pets or someone in your household, AniMeals does not assume financial responsibility for the treatment of you, your pets or your family.

Thank you again for fostering with AniMeals and helping prepare these cats for their forever home! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact AniMeals or refer to your foster care manual.
