    Gallery 57 West / Spring 2026 Call For Artists

  • Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at Gallery 57 West! We're excited to learn more about you and your work. This application is the first step in our selection process. Please take your time completing the form and sharing images that best represent your artistic practice. We're looking for artists who are not only talented creators but also engaged community members who want to be part of a collaborative, artist-run gallery. We look forward to seeing what you create!

      Gallery 57 West invites artists to complete an Artist Interest Application for an upcoming exhibition term. We welcome emerging and established artists working in all media. Gallery 57 West is an artist-run gallery and part of the Annapolis Arts Alliance, a nonprofit organization that supports the local arts community through exhibitions, educational programming, outreach, and scholarships for high school seniors pursuing the arts. Artwork sold through the gallery is commission-based, with 80% of each sale paid to the artist and 20% supporting the Annapolis Arts Alliance.


      ELIGIBILITY

      Applicants must:

      • Be a current member of the Annapolis Arts Alliance
      • Produce original, handcrafted work
      • Commit to the full exhibition term
      • Participate in gallery operations, including scheduled shifts and meetings

      We welcome artists working in all media.

      SELECTION CRITERIA

      Applications are reviewed by the Gallery Jury Committee and evaluated on:

      • Quality of craftsmanship
      • Originality and artistic voice
      • Cohesion of body of work
      • Suitability for a gallery setting
      • Overall balance and needs of the gallery

      ARTIST RESPONSIBILITIES

      Gallery 57 West artists are expected to:

      • Pay a monthly gallery fee of $140
      • Work four gallery shifts per month (3–4 hours each)
      • Attend monthly gallery meetings (Third Tuesday in the evening)
      • Maintain professional presentation of their work
      • Participate in the installation and deinstallation of their artwork
      • Actively participate in Gallery 57 West events, recognizing that artist involvement is essential to the success of the gallery and community programs

      APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

      Applicants must submit:

      • A completed online application
      • A brief artist statement (150 words or fewer)
      • Images of current work, including descriptions, materials, dimensions, and retail pricing 

      CALL FOR ARTISTS TIMELINE

      • Application opens: January 16
      • Application period closes: February 15
      • Jury review: February 15–18
      • Interview notifications: February 19
      • Artist interviews: February 24

    You may submit up to 3 individual art samples. Each artwork sample requires the following information: (1) Title of work, (2) Medium, (3) Materials and/or technique used, (4) Size or dimensions, (5) Retail price, and (6) A minimum of 3 photos of the artwork (up to 4 photos maximum).

  • SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY

    Artists are expected to work 4 gallery shifts per month (weekdays and/or weekends). Select all times you're generally available to work. Availability does not guarantee assignment.
