• International Horticulture Expo: Gardens in Residency

    Use this form to apply for a 4–6 day programming residency in the U.S. exhibit at GREENxEXPO 2027. Read the application guide before you begin. Fields marked * are required.
  • Funding notice — please read before applying
    No monetary support from APGA or USBG can be guaranteed at this time. Participating gardens are expected to cover their own travel, staffing, accommodation, and material costs. APGA is actively pursuing funding and will share updates as they become available. By submitting this application, you confirm your institution has read and understood this.


    Selection criteria

    Applications are evaluated on four criteria. Keep these in mind as you complete each section.

    Alignment with exhibit story
    Connects to "The Pursuit of Happiness" and reflects the diversity and impact of American public gardens.

    02
    Cultural sensitivity
    Content is accessible and engaging for a primarily Japanese-speaking audience.

    03
    Financial feasibility
    Budget is realistic and the garden demonstrates capacity to commit financially.

    04
    Strategic partnerships
    Collaborations with other gardens or outside organizations are weighted significantly more favorably.

    Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with timing preferences most likely to be met for those who submit early. Final deadline for consideration will be September 30th, 2026 at 11:59:59 p.m. (23:59:59) EST

  • Residency Preferences

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Earlier submissions receive priority for preferred dates. Provide three options in order of preference.

  • Operational Requests

  • Your activation space is approximately the size of a 6' table or activity cart. Power and AV access cannot be guaranteed. Design your programming to function without electricity or storage — but list all requests below so the Programming Committee can plan accordingly.

  • Budget

  • Provide a realistic estimate of total projected costs.
