ARTNOIR is thrilled to announce the return and expansion of the Jar of Love Fund. In a continued partnership with Sotheby’s, this microgrant initiative provides support, mentorship and career development for artists, designers, curators, and cultural producers of color. For this special cycle of grants, the initiative will be geared towards New York and London-based applicants, offering unrestricted grants of $5,000 each. The New York and London grantees will form a cohort and benefit from professional development opportunities that provide a forum for fellowship and further strengthen the grantees' relationships with the wider arts & culture community.
Grantees are selected by an esteemed committee of art industry peers with the 2024 cohort set to be announced this summer and fall. New York committee members include: Jenée-Daria Strand, Assistant Curator at Public Art Fund, Nontsikelelo Mutiti, visual artists and Director of Graduate Studies for Graphic Design at Yale School of Art, and Adama Delphine Fawundu, visual artist, Guggenheim Fellow and Professor of Visual Art at Columbia University.
ARTNOIR’s Jar of Love Fund was founded in 2020 in response to the unprecedented uncertainty and unrest, and has blossomed into a vital grantmaking program that has distributed more than $100,000 USD to date.
Applications are open to all those 18 years or older working within the arts, residing in New York, adjacent Tribal Nations, and London. We welcome all forms of artistic expression, from visual arts including painting and sculpture, to performance art, dance, choreography, design, curation and a wide array of cultural visionaries. We are committed to ensuring that artists, designers, curators, and cultural producers of all gender expressions, sexual orientation, disability status, and socioeconomic class have access to the fund and will actively work to ensure outreach is to groups otherwise excluded from resources of this nature.
The New York application can be found below and will remain open until July 6, 2024.
Please note the London application will open for submissions at the end of July. Stay tuned to ARTNOIR’s social media accounts and our website for the latest updates on the open call for the London Jar of Love application.
