    Definitions of Quilter Classes

    • Non-Professionally Quilted. The quilt was quilted by someone who quilts for themselves as a hobby, or quilts for others for no or minimal compensation.
    • Professionally Quilted. The quilt was quilted by (a) someone who previously or currently is engaged in machine quilting as a source of livelihood. This includes, but is not limited to, machine quilting for others, teaching machine quilting, or publishing about machine quilting. Or the entry was quilted by (b) someone who has won Quilting Awards at National Quilt Shows. Professional quilters must also designate themselves as such for their own quilt show entry.

    Note: the non-professional vs. professional distinction will only be used for statistical analysis.

    Definitions of Quilting Style

    • Machine Quilted - Computer Guided. The quilt was quilted using a stationary or track-mounted machine with a computer guided system, or quilted using an Embroidery Machine. If ANY of the quilting was computer guided, you must use this style. 
    • Machine Quilted - Hand Guided using Stationary Machine. The quilt was quilted by moving a quilt under a stationary machine. All quilting designs were guided by hand. Use of quilt rulers is allowed. 
    • Machine Quilted - Hand Guided using Track Mounted Machine. The quilt was quilted using a track mounted machine which moves over a quilt in a frame. All quilting designs were guided by hand. Use of quilting rulers and pantographs is allowed.
    • Hand Quilted. The quilt was quilted by hand, without benefit of domestic, short-arm, mid-long arm or longarm machines.
    • NOT Quilted. Acceptable for Youth Quilts. List "Not Quilted" as name of quilter in above question.

    Definitions of Design

    • Original Design. Entry design is the original work of the Entrant and/or the artists identified as creating the piece. Design is not derived, copied, nor tanslated from any other resource.
    • Published Design. Entry was created following a published design from a book or pattern, possibly with minor modifications. Publication and author/designer must be identified.
    • Inspired Design. Entry was created based on inspiration from another source (pattern or image), but with significant modifications. Resource must be identified.
    • Traditional Block Design. Entry was created using well recognized, traditional quilt blocks without the use of any published patterns. Block setting may be traditional or unique to entry.

    This question is used to populate the Gallery Card for your entry and give design credit where it is due.  Please answer honestly about your design resources.

  • Entry Description: Have the Youth Entrant write a BRIEF statement about the show entry. Include comments of interest or the creation story of this entry. Write in the first person (i.e. "I made this quilt ... ").

    Statement is limited to 300 characters or approximately 50 words.

    The photo of your Entry will be used for identification purposes. The quilt does not need to be completed, but the quilt top should be recognizable in the photo.

  • Quilt Show Rules & Disqualification

    Rules 13-15 above describe the basic requriements of the Intake Event. You will receive a Confirmation Letter and the required Entry Labels February 8-15, 2026. The Confirmation packet will contain additional information regarding the required hanging sleeve, the required Entry bag, and the details for the Intake and Return events.

    By initialing this statement, I confirm that I have read all the above Rules and Procedures. I understand that failure to meet any of the rules or Intake requirements will result in the disqualification of my Entry.

  • Quilt Show Youth Awards

    1. Each Youth artist (an Entrant or Duet/Group participant) will be awarded one (1) Participation ribbon per show. Note that ribbons are sent home in the bag with the quilt entry. It is the responsibility of the lead Entrant to distribute the marked ribbons to the appropriate winners.
    2. Each Youth Entrant will be eligible for free AQG Youth Membership for the year following in the quilt show. The appropriate Membership paperwork must be submitted to claim this award.
    3. The Youth Category is Display Only, however the entries will be reviewed for one of four Barbara Spitalny Youth Choice awards. The Ribbon will be awarded to the quilt. A single deluxe, ribbon will be returned with the quilt, regardless of Solo, Duet, or Group status. A simple “I’m a winner” ribbon will be provided for each participating artist associated with the award winning quilt.

    By initialing this statement, I confirm that I understand the Quilt Arizona! Youth Award protocols.

  • Insurance Waiver and Assumption of Loss

    Your homeowner's or business insurance policy may already protect your entry. The insurance policy that covers Arizona Quilters Guild (AQG) is a personal injury liability policy ONLY and DOES NOT provide any protections against property, damage, loss, or theft. We have always handled the entries with great care, observed quilt show attendees to prevent the handling of quilts, and provided security during the show. Nevertheless, we cannot accept financial responsibility for anything that may happen to the property of entrants. Therefore, we ask all entrants to sign the following statement, to acknowledge their recognition and assumption of risk.

    By initialing this statement as part of the entry form, I agree to release AQG from all liability for any loss, damage, theft, injury, and/or destruction to any article entered by me in the AQG Quilt Show at the Martin Auto Museum in Glendale, Arizona. I understand and assume the risk of all uninsured property, and that it is up to me to properly insure my property against any and all risks.

    I grant AQG the right to photograph this entry for AQG files, publicity, and/or promotional purposes in either print, CD, or electronic media.
