GENERAL INFORMATION AND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
ALL CRITERIA MUST BE MET TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
- Must be a resident of East Baton Rouge Parish (excluding the cities of Baker and Zachary);
- Can be a female or male graduating high school senior;
- Must exhibit academic achievement indicated by a GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
- Must have an ACT score of 18 or above or SAT score of 960 or above; AND
- Must exhibit leadership ability through participation in extracurricular activities and/or community service during high school.
A COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKET MUST INCLUDE:
- Applicants submit a typed essay (250 minimum-500 maximum words) or submit a 2-4-minute video addressing the question: How will receiving a scholarship from the Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter assist you with your educational/career goals?;
- An official copy of the high school transcript as of March/April 2026, including cumulative GPA with OFFICIAL school seal;
- An official copy of ACT/SAT scores with the OFFICIAL school seal;
- Signed Scholarship Funds Disbursement Disclaimer by the parent/guardian;
- Two (2) signed letters of recommendation with the original signature (not a signature stamp):
- One letter from the applicant's Principal, Counselor, or Teacher highlighting academic achievement.
- One letter from an organization verifying community/public service involvement, including duties and total hours.
RECOMMENDATION LETTER CRITERIA (Please inform individuals writing the recommendation letter of the criteria):
The recommendation letter aims to assess the applicant's qualities, characteristics, capabilities, and community service involvement. Please utilize the checklist below to ensure you have thoroughly provided the requested information. The recommendation letter must include all the details listed below:
- Advocate for the student
- Highlight the student’s strengths
- Provide insight into the student’s character and potential to thrive at the school
- Verify the student’s public service involvement (Name of events, Duties, Dates, # of service hours, if applicable)
AWARD CONSIDERATION:
- This application MUST be submitted by April 3, 2026.
- The applicant and parent must complete and sign all parts of this application.
- All recommendation letters must be signed (original signature).
- Omission of any part will eliminate the application from consideration.
- All applications received by the deadline date will be initially screened and evaluated by the committee.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Scholarships vary from year to year based on the Sorority fundraiser.
- Those candidates selected for the Scholarship Award will receive formal notification of their award.
- Scholarship Awards will be paid upon confirmation of THE SUBSEQUENT FALL 2026 College/University registration.
- PARTICIPATION IN DUAL ENROLLMENT CLASSES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR PAYMENT.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL ELIMINATE THE APPLICATION FROM CONSIDERATION.
