This is the registration form for Supporting Young Cochlear Implant Users and Their Families, an online one-day workshop for professionals hosted by BC Family Hearing Resource Centre (BCFHRC). This training is intended for Speech Language Pathologists, Teachers of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing and Listening & Spoken Language Specialists who work with DHH children (birth-5yrs). Priority registration will be given to professionals who are currently working with children who have cochlear implants or who are going through the cochlear implant candidacy process.
Registration will open on February 14th. Deadline for registration is March 21st.
This workshop will equip you with the knowledge and strategies you need to support the technology use and speech and language development of these children. Topics covered include:
- Cochlear implants and the candidacy process in BC
- Auditory skills development-How to support your client
- CI for Single Sided Deafness
- Challenges and Complex Cases
- Activity Ideas
- Break-out Discussions
The workshop will be hosted online via Zoom on Wednesday, April 2nd from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Carolyn Hawrish, LSLS, Early Interventionist, Zara Gauthier, SLP, Early Interventionist and Amanda Lemay, SLP, Early Interventionist will facilitate this workshop. Please note that in order to encourage active discussion, this session will not be recorded and will not be available for future viewing.
Registration is required. A minimum of five professionals must be registered to run the workshop. Certificates of participation toward continued education hours will be provided. An email will be sent out with the access link and further details one week prior to the first session.
