Confidentiality
Everything you share with me will remain confidential. However, there are a few
reasons, by law, that I am required to break confidentiality. The first would occur
if you were of danger to yourself and had an active plan to harm yourself. In this
case I may need to call the local Mental Health Crisis Team. Confidentiality will
also be broken if you were planning to seriously harm another person. I would be
required by law to contact the police. If I learn of a child or an elder being abused,
then I will contact protective services immediately. If I learn of a child abuser
from a person’s past who is actively still around children I am mandated to report
them. My clinical notes and myself can be subpoenaed by a court of law to be
presented as evidence.
I may speak of our sessions with my professional supervisor to ensure you get the
most professional, considered and skilled service from me and this is done with no
identifying information.
With the wonders of technology it’s possible to meet online as well as in person.
Note that I use a private, secure, AI tool to take brief, professional notes of all
sessions so that I can remain fully present with you during our time. Please know
that while I use entirely private and encrypted platforms, online communications
can never be fully guaranteed as secure. By signing this document you acknowledge
that you are entering into sessions with this awareness.
