    Conditions of Membership

    1. I/we confirm that under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018 I/we have no objections to my/our details being held by the Club. I/we also agree to my/our name and contact details being included in the BSC Membership Directory, which is distributed to Club Members only and is accessible via the password- protected Members' Area of the BSC website.
    2. I/we agree to abide by the rules and bye-laws and standard operating procedures of BSC as may be amended from time to time (to include all supplementary rules or instructions in respect of BSC organised events). Copies of the rules and bye-laws are available on the BSC website or from the Club office.
    3. My/our subscriptions and Club account will be paid by Direct Debit. Please complete the DD mandate and return with your application.

  • Please return the completed form, together with letters/emails of recommendation from your Proposer and Seconder and a completed direct debit mandate to the Club Secretary/General Manager. Applications are considered once a month by the Management Committee, and you should submit your application by the first of the month for it to be considered in that month.

    CLUB RULES REGARDING ELECTION TO MEMBERSHIP (extract from Part II of the Club Rules)

    3. Candidates for election to Membership must submit a completed application on the approved form to the General Manager (to include a completed direct debit mandate) and must have the support of a proposer and a seconder. The proposer and seconder shall be Members (which may include Flag Officers) who are not married to each other or partners and are not a spouse or partner of the candidate, but know the candidate sufficiently well to be confident that they will be good a Member of the Club. The proposer shall have been a Member of the Club for a minimum period of three years (or such other period as the Management Committee shall from time to time consider appropriate The proposer and seconder shall each write a letter or email of recommendation to the General Manager. If neither the proposer nor the seconder is a Flag Officer, the candidate must have the additional support of one Flag Officer.

    4. The candidate's name and addresses, together with the names of their proposer and seconder, will be posted on the Club notice board and Club website and circulated in Club email communications at least 10 days before the application goes to vote by the Management Committee. Applications shall be considered and voted on by the Management Committee on a monthly basis, and applications received by 1st of the month will go to the vote by the 10th of that month. No election shall be valid unless at least five members of the Management Committee approve the candidate's application, and there must be a three-quarters' majority in favour of a candidate of those voting for the candidate to be elected.

    5. Once an application has been submitted, that/those candidate/s may act as a temporary member/s until the decision has been made by the Management Committee and will therefore have full use of the Club in the meantime.

    The Club will process and protect data in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act 2018, and any data held by the Club will be held for the benefit of the member and the effective management of the Club. The Club does not pass, sell or trade personal data for profit or gain. The Club's Privacy Policy is available at the Club's premises and on the Club's website. All enquiries, issues or concerns in connection with Data Protection matters should be raised in the first instance with the General Manager.
