When reviewing your application, we want to get to know you as well as we can. There is a limit to what grades and test scores can tell us so we ask you to answer a series of short answer essays. Use this opportunity to introduce yourself to the Awards Committee. Be open and honest. What you tell us in your essays allows us to better understand the information you have provided in your application. With this specific award, please outline somewhere in your application how you will either be serving the military, attending a Service academy, or pursuing higher education through a ROTC program, or something alike post graduation.

The Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Award is a $1,000.00 award established to honor the legacy of Jason Jones, BMHS Class of 2003, USMA, Class of 2007, Green Beret, 3rd Group Special Forces, U.S. Army. Captain Jones was tragically killed in the line of duty during a special operation in Afghanistan on June 2, 2014. One award will be given to a male or female Blue Mountain graduate who aspires to serve our country through military service. Preference will be given to a graduate who has been accepted to a Service Academy, or who will serve with the military in connection with a pursuit of higher education through an ROTC or similar program. Applicants must exhibit the strong moral character of a Green Beret. The selection will also be based on commitment to the military, grade point average, leadership qualities, adaptability, and empathy towards others.
