Free indoor bins (shown above) are available to qualifying City of Ventura businesses,
institutions, and multi-family residential properties (5+ units) for the collection of food waste and other organics produced indoors.
To qualify you must be a business, institution, or multi-family residential property with 5 or more units located in the City of Ventura and have organic waste collection service through E.J. Harrison & Sons. Once you begin organic waste collection service, E.J. Harrison & Sons will deliver outdoor organics carts or bins for pick-up.
The indoor containers and equipment offered here are intended to help separate food waste indoors before emptying the contents into the outdoor bins for organics collection by your hauler. Organics collection service may result in additional monthly cost to the property depending your current rates. Note for multi-family residential properties: If you only need kitchen pails for tenants to collect food scraps, and do not require larger containers for centralized collection, please contact the City of Ventura Environnmental Sustainability Division to request kitchen pails.
Note for multiple sites or multiple businesses at one site: If your organization has multiple sites, submit a separate application for each City of Ventura site. If multiple organizations/businesses occupy the same site, a separate application may be submitted for each organization that needs containers. For applicants submitting on behalf of a large number of sites, please contact the City of Ventura's Environmental Sustainability office for assistance.
If you have any questions about this form or how to comply with the requirements, email sustainability@cityofventura.ca.gov, or call the Environmental Sustainability Division at (805) 652-4525 to leave a message for a call back.
