  • The Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development is offering a 13-session, 8-month Frontline Supervisor Training Program focused on developing knowledge, skills, and abilities based on the National Frontline Supervisor Competency set.

    The program, developed by the University of Minnesota's Institute on Community Integration, is a blended learning model which combines online, asynchronous lessons fron the College of Direct Suppoer with monthly, live online and in-person training sesions.

    Participants will learn about:

    • Supporting, coaching, training, and developing direct support workers to provide quality direct support
    • Developing and promoting strong professional relationships within teams
    • The implementation of strategies to support the retention of well-trained direct support workers
    • Supporting employee self-care and professionalism in the development of leadership skills
    • Developing a network of colleagues to promote continued collaboration, professional development, and support as they develop as supervisors and leaders.

    Interested Frontline Supervisors must apply to be considered for the program. Full participation, with agency support, is required. Agency support must be demonstrated through submission of a letter of recommendation. You will need to upload or send via email as part of the application process.

    Space is limited and acceptance will be determined based on the number and quality of applications.

  • About the Frontline Supervisor Training Program

  • What are the requirements of participation?

    Participants must attend and actively participate in all sessions of the Frontline Supervisor Training Series. Full participation involves:

    • attending each session
    • participating in virtual sessions with camera on and in an environment conducive to learning (e.g. not while driving or providing support)
    • completing online learning and other assisgnments between sessions
  • When are the sessions?

    Learning sessions for the Frontline Supervisor Training Series are scheduled as follows, and are virtual unless otherwise noted. Applicants are encouraged to save these dates while they wait for notification of acceptance.

  • Letter of Recommendation

  • A completed letter of recommendation and support from your supervisor must be included with your application. The letter acknowledges that your supervisor, and the agency you work for, agree to the specified requirements listed to enable your full participation in the program, and briefly addresses your strengths and reasons your supervisor supports your participation in the program. 

    The completed letter of recommendation can be uploaded using the box below, or emailed to joyce.jelley@rutgers.edu and jessica.short@rutgers.edu.
